The national oil company and its petroleum contractors have made a groundbreaking discovery in the domestic exploration, uncovering 19 oil fields in 2023, along with successfully completing two exploration assessments📊📑, contributing over 1 billion barrels of oil equivalent (bboe) to the country. 🏢🛢️ Petronas issued a statement on Friday, revealing that more than half of the exploration findings were concentrated in the Sarawak Basin, with a primary focus on Balingian and the western part of Luconia.

Among these, 4 exploration areas were discovered by Petronas Carigali, the national oil exploration private limited company, while another two were found by Thai PTTEP company. One exploration area was also identified in the Malay Basin region. Petronas emphasized that this achievement is the result of intensified exploration in recent years, with the company drilling a total of 25 wells, marking the highest exploration count in a single year since 2015. 📈📍
